Teenage acne, the bane of all pubescent boys and girls. Teenage acne can damage the already fragile self esteem of an adolescent and scar them physically and emotionally for years to come.
Unfortunately, the trigger for teenage acne is puberty, which I think most teens will continue to suffer, regardless of scientific progress. Because the hormonal changes in a teen's body produce an increase in androgen hormones, the skin reacts by producing more sebum, which is the base element in causing blocked pores when it combines with dead skin cells, leading to what the medical community call acne vulgaris. However, there is hope for the suffering teen.
